AV Technology Aberdeen goes from strength to strength
Independent industrial consultants AV Technology have been awarded a prestigious five-year condition monitoring (CM) contract by Shell Exploration and Production. The contractual scope of supply includes the provision of CM consultancy, training and equipment to ten offshore platforms and three onshore terminals located throughout the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS), mainland UK and Ireland.
The service had previously been provided by four separate service providers, but now Shell has consolidated overall responsibility into one comprehensive contract managed solely by AVT. The contract will be managed from AVT's Aberdeen office and MD Steve Mottershead is delighted with his company's success: "We have a long working relationship with Shell at both on and offshore installations," he told NDT News. "We feel this endorses their confidence in our capabilities and experience. The awarding of this contract coincides with AVT's strategic Scottish expansion, which has seen our team given a major boost with the appointment of Stephen Hill as AVT's Offshore CBM General Manager."
Based in Aberdeen, Stephen has an impressive track record: following a distinguished career of 22 years as a Royal Navy Marine Engineer, he has built up a further 15 years' experience specialising in condition-based predictive maintenance and equipment reliability in the field of condition monitoring, providing offshore CM from Aberdeen.
Commenting on his move to AVT, Stephen Hill said: "CBM is in AV Technology's DNA, it's what they do very well. I am excited about the opportunity to show the offshore sector just what they may be missing from their current service providers."
AVT has an unrivalled pedigree in CBM services with honours including the provision of CM since 1976, BINDT-accredited VA1 and VA2 training, more ISO 18346-2 qualified vibration analysis (VA) instructors than any other company in the UK, over 50 current ongoing CM contracts at over 100 sites and the latest technology and expertise to provide support on any type of rotating or reciprocating machinery.
AVT has also recently invested over $100,000 in equipment and comprehensive training for reciprocating compressor monitoring with Windrock Inc, the world's leading experts in this field.
