Quality Manager

    Job purpose:
    Administer and manage all aspects of the Quality Department in the manufacturing of helical submerged arc welded (SAWH) steel pipe.

    Person specifications:
    The minimum attributes for the job holder to be effective in this job in terms of education, qualifications, work experiences, job skills, computer literacy, language/communication skills, personal competencies, work environment and physical effort are:
    • A Degree or Diploma in Engineering or other related field of study;
    • Experience of at least 10 years in LSAW pipe manufacturing and quality assurance, and others;
    • Strong computer skills and experience analysing data;
    • Knowledgeable in statistics and statistical process control;
    • Fully familiar with ISO 9001 and/or API Q1;
    • Well-versed in oral and written English;
    • Other relevant qualifications.

    • Effective management and administration of all aspects of the Quality Department in the manufacturing of helical submerged arc welded (SAWH) steel pipe.
    Responsibilities:
    Supervise all aspects of the Quality Department which includes all ISO 9001/API Q1 functions including:
    • Overseeing internal audits;
    • Preparing management review;
    • Maintaining Quality Management System documentation;
    • Preparing procedures, work instructions and forms;
    • Preparing all manufacturing procedure qualifications and quality plans;
    • Responsible for all inspection and laboratory functions;
    • Working with ASNT Level III and final approval on all NDT procedures;
    • Supervising QA and QC Sr Engineers and NDT Level III in inspection, testing and NDT functions;
    • Final approval on all inspection procedures.
    Assumes role of Technical Manager until production is sufficient to support Technical Manager. This includes:
    • Reviewing customer and steel plate supplier specifications;
    • Formulating steel specifications for plate based on customer requirements;
    • Interfacing with steel plate companies to ensure customer specifications are met with supplied plate;
    • Reviewing all customer complaints and determining if problem is plate rather than pipe related;
    • Providing technical support to Purchasing Department for claims against plate suppliers;
    • Providing technical support to Sales for inquiries and complaints;
    • Coordinating large projects with customers and 3rd party inspectors.
